Guide to Filtration settings

Just in case you've forgotten, or this is your first time.....

The filter must run for a minimum of eight hours every day during the season. You cannot over-filter the pool; the longer the filter runs, the better. The filter system can be set up on a timer to make the eight-hour filtration cycle automatic and to take advantage of off-peak electricity tariffs.

You must turn the pump off each time you move the handle on the top of the filter to its various operational modes. Here's a reminder of the function of each mode:

FILTRATION

Normal filtration of the pool and vacuuming.

BACKWASH

Used to clean dirt from the filter. Backwash once a week, or after vacuuming the pool. Run for approximately two minutes. Dirty water is discharged through the backwash hose to a drain or soakaway.

RINSE

Use immediately after backwashing to clear any remaining dirty water from the system before returning to FILTRATION mode. Run for approximately 10 seconds, or until the sight glass runs clear.

WASTE

Used to lower the water level in the pool.

RECIRCULATE

Run in this mode for a couple of hours after dosing the pool with chemicals. The water bypasses the filter sand and helps mix the chemicals evenly throughout the pool. This is also a useful mode when priming the pump.

CLOSED

Shuts off the water flow at the filter to enable you to clean out the basket in the strainer pot on the pump. Use in conjunction with the shut-off valve in front of the pump. Remember to reopen the valves before returning to FILTRATION mode.

REMEMBER TO TOP UP THE POOL WITH WATER AFTER BACKWASHING AND RINSING.
