Do I Need a Pool Roller?
If you use a solar cover or heat retention cover on your swimming pool, a pool roller can make day-to-day pool maintenance much easier. Pool rollers and reel systems allow covers to be removed, stored and replaced quickly while helping to protect the cover from unnecessary wear and damage.
What Does a Pool Roller Do?
A swimming pool roller, sometimes called a reel system, is designed to allow pool covers to be rolled up neatly when the pool is in use.
Rather than dragging or folding the cover manually, the cover remains attached to the roller and can be removed and stored efficiently.
Benefits of a Pool Roller
A quality reel system offers several advantages:
- Easier cover removal and replacement
- Reduced strain and manual handling
- Faster pool opening and closing
- Improved cover storage
- Extended cover life
- Reduced risk of damage
- Improved day-to-day convenience
Are Pool Rollers Suitable For All Pools?
Most pool rollers are suitable for solar covers and heat retention covers used on both indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
Rollers are available for:
- In-ground swimming pools
- Above-ground swimming pools
- Indoor swimming pools
- Outdoor swimming pools
- Domestic swimming pools
- Commercial swimming pools
Do Pool Rollers Help Extend Cover Life?
Yes.
Dragging a cover across the ground or repeatedly folding it can cause unnecessary wear and tear over time.
A reel system helps keep the cover properly supported and stored when not in use, helping maximise its service life.
Are Pool Rollers Worth The Cost?
For many pool owners, a roller quickly becomes an essential part of the pool setup.
By making cover handling easier and helping protect the cover itself, a roller can save time, reduce frustration and improve the overall pool ownership experience.
Which Pool Roller Do I Need?
The most suitable roller will depend on:
- Pool width
- Pool shape
- Cover type
- Available storage space
- Whether the pool is indoor or outdoor
Choosing the correct reel system ensures reliable operation and convenient cover handling.
