Folkpool 'Jewel' Case Study (2005)
Posted on Monday the 2nd April by Dan Young
The existing decked area was dismantled to leave a chalk base. The Pool shell was
assembled (the wall in panels, simply bolted together in the corners)
and then stood on the previously laid paving slabs (2 slabs under each
short wall panel and 4 under each longer wall panel), bedded on to
concrete to acheive a perfect level. Some concreting along the long
sides of the pool was required so water pressure would not bow the
wall. Fittings were then cut into the wall, Underwater light, Skimmer,
return and in this case a Swimjet unit was also fitted. The beautifully
grained Toprails were fitted at this point and the liner tracking. The
Pool base was levelled off using a fine granite chipping, 2 inch
insulation board cut and laid over that base and foam insulation fitted
to the wall ready for the liner custom made to exactly fit the pool.
While the water was filling the pool the plumbing for the filtration
and the Swimjet Pump was connected.
The electrician used a Swimelex Control panel to simplify the job of connecting Heater, Light and Pumps to the main supply. The old decking Timber was then reused to complete the job. From start to finish - no more than 10 working days!
